Domestic made mobile sets not welcomed due to lack of features
“Lack of consumers knowledge about mobile sets, and deletion of mobile sets serial numbers registration have resulted into saturation of the countrys market with the smuggled mobile sets,” a university professor Mohammadgholi Yousefi told Mobna news agency.
“In fact, these factors have lead consumers to have doubt when purchasing mobile sets, thus the consumers only tend to buy brands and models proposed by the mobile vendors,” he added.
“When government lost its revenue from authorized imports, suddenly decreased mobile sets tariff from 60 percent to25 percent in order to encourage authorized imports,” Yousefi said.
“But the government did not think that by doing so it will severly affect the domestic mobile phone production that itself had encouraged one year ago,” he said.
“Now there are talks to decrease the current mobile sets import tariff from 25 percent to 10 or 15 percent, only to be at the point that the expert have already warned,” he concluded.
