Targeted subsidies amendments not to include postal services: post office official
“On the basis of government proposal in the targeted subsidies bill, the services’ excess revenues should first be deposited into a special account and that will not be relevant as far as the Post Office is concerned,” Mohammad-Hasan Mohebbian Araghi told Mobna news agency.
“Post Office receives its service charges on the basis of final cost. Therefore, new changes in the targeted subsidies bill will not relate to postal tariffs,” he said.
‘As before and while it is government-owned, the Post Office will pay all its revenues to the Treasury and in return is allocated a budget by the Treasury,” he added.
The act means revising the third term of the Fourth Economic Development Plan, according to which the government is obliged to implement postal rates to what they were before September 2004.
The Post Office has exceeded the rate by 40% ever since and despite complaints by private operators and Post Office customers the procedure continues as before.
