Re-holding VoIP tender against initial agreement with contractors: VoIP contractor
“Three Mobile Company of Iran contractors to offer internet phone service have been committed to pay seven billion rials monthly to MCI for termination and three billion rials for origination but because of the present situation they are faced with huge financial loss and they have been unable to continue with the contract,” he told Mobna news agency.
“With re-holding the VoIP tender and increasing the number of such companies, present companies will face a huge loss,” he said.
“The per minute landline termination fee payment to Infrastructure Company is 5.7 cents and for the mobile phone it is 12 cents. Per minute origination payment to Infrastructure Company, however, is 19.5 rials but in the last two months, Infrastructure Company, as a major authorized rival, has been charging 8 to 8.5 cents in mobile phone termination market,” he said.
50% of termination market is by mobile phone, 30% by Tehran landline and 20% by other cities’ landline networks. Because of unauthorized activists’ monopoly, VoIP contractors are only active in 20% of the market.
Three domestic contractors: Pishgaman Kavir Yazd, Zoha Kish and Tarasheh Sabz have been offering VoIP services for the past 6 months but because of current black market, these companies been unable to cover their expenses and owe much to Infrastructure Company.
