Telecommunication networking in Iraq by Iran not yet finalized: ICT ministry deputy

“Telecommunication networking in 8 Iraqi cities is being done with a loan by Iran,” Behrouz Asrari Ershad told Mobna news agency.
“So far the Iranian loan has not been finalized and no agreements have been reached between the two countries,” he said.
The project will be done with a $180m loan from Iran in line with bilateral regional cooperation, which has been on the agenda since last year.
The project is awaiting the Iranian loan, then a contractor and an Iranian consultant will be selected through a tender and afterwards the private sector will use the loan for telecommunication networking in Iraq.
A similar project is under way in Afghanistan. Shahid Ghandi Telecommunication Cables Co. has implemented telecommunication networking project in 5 Afghan cities with a $20m fund.  
In addition, restructuring Afghanistan telecommunication training center will be done with a $6m help from Iran and in cooperation with ITU.
