Telecom tariffs would increase if TCI requests
“According to article 44 of the Constitution, the Government is forbidden from imploring the private sector to offer a service at below its cost price,” Reza Taghipour told Mobna news agency.
“If an operator asks for a tariff increase, the request will be forwarded to the Radio Communication and Regulations Organization and if they agree with the increase then it would be implemented,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Telecommunication Company of Iran managing director has announced that landline phone tariff would not be increased based on the inflation rate issued by the Central Bank, but on the basis of households’ economic conditions.
However, some experts believe if landline phone tariffs were to be linked to annual rates issued by the Central Bank, if would have to be raised from 44.70 to 260 rials.
