Latin Payamac tariff not increased from June 21
sources believe it is unlikely that the government decision to increase Latin Payamac tariff from 142 Rial to 222 Rial would be realized.
Mobile Telecommunications Co had been commissioned to prepare the necessary software before the government decision came into force but so far has failed to produce one.
So, when the decision comes into force on June 21, Persian Payamac, which takes up more space that Latin Payamac will, as before, work out 3 time that of Latin, and bearing in mind that the Persian Payamac rate is 89 Rial, the Latin Payamac becomes even costlier than before, although it has been set at 222 Rial.
Although the government’s decision has been to promote the Persian Language but, due to the absence of the necessary software on most mobile handsets to send SMS with Persian fonts, the user is forced to send the message in Finglish which costs more.
Minister of Information & Communication Technology has always boasted that the 9th government has managed to maintain tariffs on basic services.
Informed sources believe that if present difficulties with Persian Payamac are sorted out, it is likely that the government’s decision will be enforced.
