Third operator required bandwidth under preparation
“The bandwidth needed by current mobile phone operators is being refined by Communications Infrastructure Company and the third operator’s requirements will be met by the same procedure,” Mohammad-Ali Iranian told Irans mobile news agency (Mobna).
He said by the end of the Fourth Development Plan (2005-2010) a national IP network will be established by CIC which will increase network capacity by three-fold and increase current 153 STM1 links to 400 STM1 links.
He said one of the services that a national IP service will provide is high-speed mobile internet which a 2.5 or 3G technology mobile phone service would require.
Mobile phone third operator tender currently being under way and whose winner will be announced next month, is required to draw 17 million subscribers over the next 15 years for 3G audio/video services.
