French company becomes Third Operator consultant
“The company, a subsidiary of France’s Orange Operator, has been selected to give technical and financial advice to Third Operator following an international tender and has already started its assignment,” Mehdi Afrasiabi told Mobna news agency.
Asked about China’s ZTE collaboration on the project, he said ZTE also participated in the tender but its involvement in the project had not yet been ascertained.
Third Operator is required to issue 17 million sim cards over a fifteen-year period which experts believe would start a competition among other operators for advanced mobile services.
Tamin Shms Novin Telecommunications, a subsidiary of Social Security Organization, first formed a consortium with the Emirate operator Elisalat but the latter was later dismissed for failing to fulfill its obligations.
