Determining third mobile operator failed to progress: telecom minister deputy

“RCRO should announce the reasons of this delay,” Kamal Mahamedpour told Iran’s mobile news agency (MOBNA).
“For negotiation and selecting third operator a schedule has been determined. According to this schedule tender winner should implement its commitments in this project in due time, but so far it has not been implemented,” he said.
“Second winner price proposition difference with first winner Etisalat which was dismissed from the project was high. Radio Communication and Regulation Organization should allocate a time period to Zain-Iran consortium and then should decide about it,” he added.
“RCRO in holding third operator tender should act on time and according to program. Suspending such a huge project is not proper,” he continued.
It was planned that Tamin-Etisalat consortium compromises of Tamin Telecom company and Emirates Etisalat to pay 160 trillion rials to government during 15 years.
Telecommunication minister had announced that Etisalat could not use investment opportunity in third operator project.
Zain-Iran consortium compromises of Iran Broadcasting retired fund, teachers retired fund and Kuwaiti Zain was selected as second winner of third operator tender after Tamin-Etisalat consortium.
