Sms fills many social vacuums: a sociologist
“Socially speaking sms or short message can act as a public and general media. It can perform many functions of a mass media,” Ali Moradpour told Mobna news agency.
“This popular media in addition to its regular functions for example funny texts, is an appropriate tool for creating more relations and transmitting peoples experiences and aspirations,” he said.
“Also in many cases when people can not make face to face contact and are not able to express their emotions, they use this tool to express their thoughts directly,” he added.
“Sms has spread in Iranian lives and now many families use this tool for control and contact their children when they are out of sight,” Moradpour said.
“Lack of talking demeanor vacuum in households and lack of parents presence beside children has faded by the use of mobile phones and sms in the virtual communication world,” he explained.
