15 companies purchased third operator tender documents
With the passing of the deadline to obtain the tender documents the number of such companies has reached 15.
The companies have a fortnight to select their partners and submit the completed tender documents to the Radio Communication and Regulations Organization.
The tender envelopes will be opened on Oct 31.
The offers will be studied for a week and the result conveyed to tender participants.
It has been said that United Arab Emirate’s Etiesalat, Saudi Arabia’s STC, Qatar’s QTel, Kuwait’s Zain, Malaysia’s TMI, China’s China Mobile, UK’s British Telecom and Russia’s MegaFon have unofficially announced their inclination to participate in the tender.
The third countrywide mobile phone operator which will offer 3G mobile phone technology is required to provide service to 17m subscribers over a 15-year period.
The operator’s initial investment is estimated at 300 million euros.
