TCI obliged to carry out rural agents insurance scheme
“The bill is aimed at improving telecommunication services in villages and rural areas and will affect over 10,000 TCI agents,” Ali-Asghar Yousef-Nejad told Irans mobile news agency (Mobna).
“The new law will oblige TCI to insure its agents and contractors alike in rural areas under social security insurance program and in accordance with the Labor Act,” he said.
The bill had previously been rejected by the Guardian Council on grounds that it would be a burden on government income.
Last year, parliament ruled that in order to compensate for the loss of livelihood of some 40 thousand TCI agents in villages with work experiences of 8 to 25 years as a result of dismantling village telecommunication booths, they should be insured under social security program but it was rejected by the Guardian Council because its source of fund had not been specified.
Such scheme would cost TCI 2,000 to 3,000 billion rials.
