Deleting telecommunications subsidy requires more study: an expert

“More examination and thought should be put into this issue. Omitting telecommunication subsidy will bring serious problems since services fees will increase,” a Tehran university professor Mohammadgholi Yousefi told Mobna news agency.
“This is not fair for the subscribers since it will oblige them to pay high fees,” he added.
“If telecommunication services subsidy should be omitted then private sector should be more active, furnishing the ground for the subscribers to have choices,” he said.
“By enforcing economic change program privatization activities will face new challenges, so executives should think of necessary works to deal with the arising problems,” he said.
“Economic change program will also affect the capital market, and it will influence the privatization of some 700 to 800 state owned companies,” Yousefi added.
