Persian equivalents for 54 telecom and IT terms approved

“Every year the Persian equivalents of some 70-100 foreign terms in telecommunication and information technology are approved by the Academy,” Hamid Hassani, the Academy’s representative in Telecommunication Group announced.
He said most terms are compound words and are approved by a council which meets twice a year.
He said the council had so far been unable to establish an equivalent for the term GPRS.
“The term ‘mms’ has been translated into ‘payam-e-chand resanehei’,” he added.
The council has approved ‘payam-e koutah’ as best equivalent for the term ‘sms’ with ‘payamak’ as second choice.
