IDRO ready to finance 49% of Third Operator
“IDRO has offered to Tamin Telecom for cooperation in Third Operator project and has received their preliminary consent,” Ramezan-Ali SadeghZadeh told Mobna news agency.
“Protecting the private sector and high technologies is among IDRO aims. According to the new privatization law, IDRO’s duty is to financially support domestic production and cooperation in private sector projects by as much as 49%,” he added.
“Regarding omission of foreign companies from Third Operator, IDRO can cooperate in providing the required funds,” he said.
“Tamin Telecom Consortium has agreed to the IDRO cooperation but the cooperation procedure has not yet been determined,” the deputy added.
“It seems that in the Third Operator project, foreign companies’ help will be sought in the procurement of network equipments,” he said.
In January 2009, Radio Communication and Regulations Organization selected Tamin-Etisalat Consortium as Third Operator tender winner but it was later dismissed from the project and the replacement is yet to be formally declared.
It is, however, most likely that Tamin Telecom will be selected as Third Operator.
