Third nation wide mobile operator needs 3 billion dollars to kickoff
“Almost all of those who want to participate in the third nationwide mobile phone tender agree that about 3 billion dollars investment only to kick off the operation,” an official in telecommunication ministry Ahmad Pourang-nia told Mobna news agency.
“The future circumstances and the how the needed equipments are purchased will specify the amount of money needed for the next phase of the project,” he added.
Russia, India, Indonesia, China, South Korea and some Persian Gulf countries that have shown eagerness to participate for the third nation wide tender.
“Russian operator Megafon has had negotiations with some national companies in order to attend the tender and has reached to agreement with them,” he added.
Report have said that so far 15 world operators have announced their willingness to obtain third nationwide mobile phone operators license.
According to the latest report third nationwide operator tender announcement will be made by 21 July 2008 and the final winner will be chosen by 21 September 2008.
