3G mobile phone is ITU’s most important index: Iranian telecommunications official
“ITU’s criteria regarding advancements in telecommunications change every year,” Ministry of Information and Telecommunications Technology’s international affairs director Ahmad Pourang-Nia told Mobna news agency.
“Another criterion which ITU values the most is connection to the internet via mobile phone,” he added.
3G mobile phone technology, as ITU’s most cherished criterion, is being set up in Iran by third countrywide mobile phone operator.
3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, superseding 2G, and preceding 4G.
It is based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) family of standards under the International Mobile Telecommunications program.
3G technologies enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity.
Services include wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile environment.
