Mobile phone calls increase accidents` risk seven times: a researcher
“Car accident risk increases when drivers concentration on driving is decreased when searching for a number, when receiving and ending it,” Sadegh Manteghi told Mobna news agency.
“Losing concentration leads to the driver lacking the needed attention which is driving duties, so it usually increases drivers alertness,” he said.
“Also when driver holds mobile set in hand he can not control car well and often swerves and hits car,” he added.
“Drivers should use accessories which allow them to drive safely with their hands free,” Manteghi said.
“Generally drivers should avoid mobile phone calls when driving with high speed, in traffic jam, fog, slippery roads and rainy days. Since car accident increases in these weather conditions,” he added.
