Targeted subsidies amendments not to include postal and telecommunication services
“The subsidies will not include telecommunication services except for postal services,” Ali Motahhari told Mobna news agency.
“In this situation, targeted subsidies bill will not include communication and telecommunication services. The amendment to the bill will not relate to omission of postal services subsidies,” he added.
“Post Office receives its service charges on the basis of final cost. Therefore, new changes to the targeted subsidies bill will not relate to postal tariffs,” he said.
The bill will necessitate the revision of the third term of the Fourth Economic Development Plan, according to which the government is obliged to implement postal rates to what they were before September 2004.
The Post Office has exceeded the rate by 40% ever since and despite complaints by private operators and Post Office customers the procedure continues as before.
