First operator can not compete with third operator: telecom official
“When third operator starts its operation a new rival will enter Irans mobile phone arena, however governmental laws do not let first operator to compete with third operator,” Saber Feizi told Irans mobile news agency (Mobna).
“Third operator can be accounted as a tough rival for first operator (Mobile Company of Iran),” he added.
“Third operator presence will have a positive effect on privatization procedure and will increase telecommunication company share price in the bourse,” he continued.
Tamin Etisalat consortium compromises of Tamin Telecom company and Emirates Etisalat operator won third operator tender and received highest rate amongst five consortiums.
Third operator can operates in 3G, 3.5G and 4G (UMTS, EDGE and HSDPA technologies) networks and can offer its services in 1800, 900 and 2100 MHz frequencies bands.
Its license right is 15 years and is extendable for two 5-years periods with Radio Communication and Regulations Organization permission.
It is predicted that third operator to attract 17 million subscribers, out of which six million will be calls subscribers and 11 million data services subscribers.
